Merit New Shade Slick Gelee Sheer Tinted Lip Oil

Minimalistic brand Merit came out with their Shade Slick Gelee Sheer Tinted Lip Oil and I love lip oils. So I purchased one during the Sephora Sale.

The Sephora website says this is “A high shine, sheer wash of color infused with plant derived squalene and quinoa seed oil for healthy lips all day long.”

The packaging of these looks exactly like the Merit Shade Slick Classics Tinted Lip Oil. I have reviewed one of the shades here. It has a doe foot applicator as well, just like the classics tinted lip oil.

Formula Of The Merit New Shade Slick Gelee Sheer Tinted Lip Oil

Sephora website says this is “An ultra-sheer tint of glossy color infused with blooming pigments, that leave a subtle stain based on your lips’ natural color and pH. Lightweight, non-sticky formula feels like you’re wearing nothing at all. Infused with squalane and quinoa seed oil for lasting moisture and barrier protection.”

Also this lip oil is vegan and cruelty-free. The highlighted ingredients include Plant-Derived Squalene which moisturizes lips and restores suppleness. They also have Quinoa Seed Oil that supports barrier function to protect against environmental aggressors.

Currently available in 4 shades. I picked the shade Maraschino.

My Experience

Before I picked it up I had no idea that it is a pH changing product, even though it is mentioned on the Sephora website. So I was scared that it would turn into some unflattering shade of hot pink on me. But I am glad to report that no such thing happened.

The formula feels nice and hydrating on the lips. This lip oil gives my lips a very sheer tint and makes my lips feel juicy. Moreover it is not sticky at all. However being a lip oil, the lasting power is not much. Every time you eat or drink the product will come off and you will have to reapply. Which is not much of a problem for me because I love how hydrating it is.
