BH Cosmetics has given us some of the most colorful palettes out there, so I am really excited to try out the new BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo Palette they’ve created in collaboration with Youtube Beauty Vlogger and Makeup Artist Shannon Harris better known as Shaaanxo to her followers.
Shaaanxo is one of the top Youtube personalities followed by more than 2 million people and rightly so because of her bubbly personality and her beautiful makeup looks. She has been putting out makeup videos for more than 7 years now and has since founded her own company, xoBeauty. So this collaboration with BH Cosmetics comes as no surprise. The BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo Palette is a universally flattering palette and here is my review about it.
First things first, this palette is sold for $22 online and if it even matters, is made in China – as most, if not all, BH Cosmetics products are made in China.

Packaging
The BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo Palette comes in a magnetic cardboard flip-top packaging, it includes mirrors on each side of the palette and has a beautiful, dainty pink bubbles design. It also looks like the pans are glued to the bottom and seem sturdy enough, although I would not personally carry this around in my bag since it is a bit big measuring 12.5 x 12.5 cms. It’s a dual sided palette housing 9 eyeshadow colors on one side and 9 lip colors on the other.
Swatches
The swatches I made are finger swatches which perform differently from brush swatches. Daylight lighting was used for photography. The eyeshadow swatches were primed with Inglot Cosmetics Duraline.
The lip color swatches are swatched once.
Wear
On my eyes: I’m wearing the brick red color on the outer V of my eyelid and the rose gold shimmer on the lid. I tried to use the orangey tan shadow as a transition color, but it seems like it just blended with my skin color because I couldn’t see it, so I used a different transition shade from a different palette instead.
The matte brick red color has good pigmentation and blends easily, but the rose gold shimmer – and actually all the shimmer shades, barely have any color payoff, so I had to spritz a MAC Fix plus to dampen the brush in order to transfer more products.
On the lips: I’m wearing the darkest berry shade on the palette. All the lip creams are satin finish and do not feel drying at all, even after a long wear. The color does fade out but setting it with powder and giving your lips a second coat helps it stays longer. They also have a satin finish so I had to blot it with tissue to lessen the sheen. I understand that this is largely dependent on your preference and I prefer a soft matte finish.
Longevity
The makeup wore nicely for about 6 hours but the shimmer shade started to disappear around 2 hours. After 6 hours I noticed that the matte shade had set in on the skin pretty well and does not appear patchy.
Verdict
The BH Cosmetics Shaaanxo Palette is a good palette for beginners. I like that the colors are universally flattering. However, because of the inconsistent color payoff, it might work better with fair skinned ladies. My advice is if you do have these colors from other palettes already, I don’t find it a necessary buy.
